Top 10 UK Websites
Hitwise has published a list of the most popular UK websites in more than 50 categories last year, based on each site's market share of user visits.
It also lists the brands which were most searched for in 2006, with eBay unsurprisingly placing first and social networking site Bebo coming in second.
The most searched for brands were:
- eBay
- Bebo
- Argos
- Amazon
- EasyJet
- BBC
- Autotrader
- Tesco
- eBay UK
- CBBC
Hitwise used anonymous data from the online search behaviour of more than 8.43m UK internet users to produce the list.
Other highlights are:
- The most searched for print news and media site was www.telegraph.co.uk.
- Expedia was the top travel agency site.
- The most searched for site in the aviation category was www.easyjet.com.
- The top banking site was www.lloydstsb.com.
