Steve Jobs: Tributes Left for a Real Hero

Branded as a visionary genius who reshaped the world; the tributes have been pouring in following the death of Steve Jobs.

Now Steve wasn’t some big celebrity that makes the papers and magazines every day or even a world leader but what he did changed, impacted and touched the lives of many people all over the world.

Known as the face behind Apple, he presented a number of their products and dedicated his time to this high-end technology whilst ensuring it came with a fashionable design. Behind the closed doors of Apple the influence he had would be unheard of in most businesses all over the world. The co-founder and former chief executive of US technology giant Apple he has unfortunately passed away.

He announced to be suffering from pancreatic cancer in 2004 and five years after he was given a liver transplant. Then in January he took medical leave from Apple and then in August he resigned as CEO.

Still Apple’s chairman and a highly influential figure with a high profile he was extremely protective over his private life. In 1991 he married his wife, Laurene and together they had three children which he leaves behind along with another child from a previous relationship.

Aged just 56 the battle with cancer was devastatingly one which he simply couldn’t win. A death which has shocked the world; Apple have since released a statement:

“His brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve”.

This is a viewpoint shared globally as makeshift shrines all over the globe have popped up as well as outside Apple headquarters. Labelled a hero people have laid flowers, lit candles and even wrote messages of sympathy on the pavements all around the globe. Normally Apple has their flags branded with their logo flying high outside the headquarters but as an act of respect they were flying at half-mast.

Staff members who were lucky enough to work alongside Steve are trying to come to terms with the loss; the death of a man who revolutionised technology.

Many people have ironically taken to social networks in order to release and present their emotions and iSad as a term has come into use on social network site Twitter. Other social network sites are in and dated with updates from people who are paying their respects.

Even Samsung who have been involved in an ongoing legal battle with Apple regarding patents have issued a statement which praised Steve jobs:

“Steve provided numerous revolutionary changes to the information technology industry”

It isn’t just amongst the celebrities though that people are paying their respects. On an Apple store window in Santa Monica the words “Thank you Steve” were wrote in none other than red lipstick.

People have come from miles around in order to pay their respects; one person said it is like the death of Elvis Presley or John Lennon; it is a change in times and the end of an era which we have known Apple to be.
